Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened plant milk (almond, oat, coconut, or soy)
  • 1 heaped tsp fresh turmeric, grated
  • ½ tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch black pepper
  • ½ tsp coconut oil
  • 1–2 tsp maple syrup or raw honey
  • Pinch ground cardamom
  • Pinch ground nutmeg

Directions

  1. Add the plant milk to a small saucepan and warm over medium-low heat.
  2. Do not allow it to boil.
  3. Whisk in the grated turmeric, grated ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and coconut oil if using.
  4. Let the mixture gently simmer for about 5–7 minutes so the spices infuse into the milk.
  5. Stir occasionally.
  6. For a smoother latte, strain the mixture through a fine sieve before serving.
  7. Add maple syrup or honey to taste.
  8. Pour into a mug and serve warm.
